Mid South Moments - September 22nd 1984

Mid South Moments - September 15th 1984

Louis Williams, my brother from another mother & long time wrestling travelling companion, joins the show this week.  We do a whistle stop tour of nine trips to North America for mostly WrestleManias and some of our journeying highlights before reviewing the September 15th 1984 episode of Mid South Wrestling.  This has highlights of the New Orleans match between Hercules & Hacksaw Jim Duggan & a big angle with Jim Cornette.  We have a new video package on the Fantastics, the debut of ‘Master G’ and much much more.

Regular co-host Dan Phillips (@danpffc) joins me to review the September 8th 1984 episode of Mid South Wrestling featuring a huge angle between the Midnight Express & the Fantastics.  We also have in action Adrian Street, Hacksaw Butch Reed & Buddy Landell.  Thereafter for ‘this month in wrestling history’ we have an epic review of the SummerSlam 1990 pay per view that took place THIRTY YEARS AGO TODAY.  This was the first big time WWF show I ever watched at the time as it aired and will always have a special place in my heart.

Mark Dunderdale (@dopper6) & Stuart Roberts (@wakefieldcanary) are back this week to look over the September 1st 1984 episode of Mid South Wrestling.  This includes the Midnight Express, Adrian Street making his MSW debut, a bizarre video package featuring JYD (after his exit from the company) & Hacksaw Jim Duggan (who is also in a match vs Krusher Krushev) & much much more.

Thereafter it’s trivia time, as we approach SummerSlam 2020 from the ‘THUNDERDOME’ we look back over 32 years worth of the ‘hottest event of the summer’ in three rounds of thrilling action before crowning a champion.

This is a really strong in ring week for MSW, featuring Hercules vs Koko Ware in an impromptu match, the Fantastics, Buddy Landel vs Brickhouse Brown and much more.  We also have predictions for this weekend’s UFC 252, Miocic vs Cormier.

Wrestling's 'Black Saturday' - July 14th 1984

A short form audio documentary focussed on one of the more infamous days in the history of North American Professional wrestling - Saturday July 14th 1984.

We look back on the events leading up to the day, how the WWF got themselves on WTBS and the behind the scenes workings of the deal.  There is a review of the actual WWF show that debuted on that fateful Saturday, including a promo so bad it has to be heard to be truly believed.

Thereafter we cover the reaction at the time to the first show and what played out over the coming months prior to the first WrestleMania, including a short run on the station by Bill Watts’ Mid South Wrestling.
